Adobe Illustrator is the industry standard for vector graphics software. Since its launch in 1987, it has transformed from a single-platform font design utility into a multi-platform creative powerhouse.
The Universal Binary. This version was rewritten to run natively on (alongside PowerPC). It introduced the Control Bar (context-sensitive options at the top of the screen) and Document Profiles . Performance skyrocketed. Adobe also cleaned up the interface significantly, removing dozens of legacy dialog boxes.

The era. This version introduced Cloud Documents (save files to Adobe's cloud for version history and access across devices). It also added Paste on All Artboards , Auto Font Activation (missing fonts are downloaded from Adobe Fonts automatically), and Recolor Artwork (a generative color wheel).

The integration. This version improved Creative Cloud Libraries further, added Stock Assets (search/insert Adobe Stock vector images directly), and introduced Smoother Drawing (gesture-based path editing).
