Alina Cojocaru is arguably the most famous of the three. Born in Bucharest, Romania on May 27, 1981, she is celebrated for her "diaphanous movements" that seem to "melt into the air". She trained in Kiev before joining the Royal Ballet School, and at just 18, she became a principal dancer with the Royal Ballet, where she was promoted by none other than Sir Anthony Dowell. She has since performed as a lead principal with the English National Ballet and a permanent guest with the Hamburg Ballet.
