The movie Kaththi revolves around the life of Jeevan (played by Vijay), a well-known thief who gets arrested and put in jail. After serving his sentence, Jeevan plans to reform his ways and start a new life. However, his plans are foiled when he discovers that a group of corrupt government officials, led by a greedy minister (played by Jai), are involved in a scam to acquire land from farmers in a small village.
